Steady Privacy Policy

Steady is built to support private, sensitive moments without requiring an account.

Effective and last updated: July 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Khueon Studios ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Steady mobile application ("Steady" or the "App"). It applies to the App, not to other Khueon Studios products or websites.

1. Privacy at a glance

  • Steady works without an account.
  • Your notes, plans, trusted-person details, and reflections are kept in an encrypted vault on your device.
  • Steady has no ads and no third-party analytics.
  • On iPhone, Apple keeps the names of apps and websites chosen for iPhone Shield private from Steady.
  • On Android, Steady uses AccessibilityService only to detect when an app you selected for Shield comes to the foreground and to show the Shield experience.
  • Optional AI personalization is off by default and only sends a limited behavior summary when you choose to enable it.

2. Information kept on your device

Steady stores the information you choose to create in an encrypted on-device vault so the App can work privately and without an account. This may include:

  • Your prepared if–then response, environmental barriers, reasons, and letter to yourself
  • Trusted-person details and the message you prepare for that person
  • Optional urge logs, check-ins, reflections, next steps, and capability practice
  • Patterns you record about sleep, stress, mood, connection, cues, and time of day
  • App settings and feature preferences

This content is not uploaded to Khueon Studios and is not available to us in ordinary operation. You decide what to write, and logging is optional.

3. Shield features on iPhone and Android

iPhone Shield and Screen Time

If you subscribe to Steady Plus and enable iPhone Shield, Steady asks for Apple's Screen Time authorization. You then choose the apps, websites, or categories you want to block using Apple's selection interface.

  • Apple gives Steady opaque tokens representing your selections, rather than their names.
  • Steady stores those opaque tokens and selection counts so it can apply the block you requested.
  • Steady does not receive or store the names of the apps or websites you selected.
  • If you revoke Screen Time authorization, Apple invalidates the related tokens and iPhone Shield will stop working.

Android Shield and AccessibilityService API disclosure

On Android, Steady uses the AccessibilityService API only to provide its core, user-initiated Shield feature. Steady is not an accessibility tool for people with disabilities and does not claim to be one. The service may operate in the background so it can recognize when you open an app that you selected for Shield, even when Steady is not open.

Before directing you to Android Settings, Steady presents a separate in-app disclosure explaining this use. You must take an affirmative action and explicitly enable the service in Android Settings. You may decline or disable it at any time.

The only AccessibilityService-derived data Steady accesses is the package identifier of the app that comes to the foreground. The service receives window-state-change events, compares that identifier with the apps you selected, and shows the Shield experience when there is a match.

The Android service:

  • does not retrieve or record screen content;
  • does not read messages, passwords, form entries, notifications, or taps;
  • does not record keystrokes;
  • does not make purchases or change device settings for you; and
  • does not transmit foreground-app information off your device or use it for advertising or analytics.

Foreground app identifiers are processed only on your device. Package identifiers for the apps you select and your Shield settings are stored in private on-device storage. This AccessibilityService data is not collected by Khueon Studios, transmitted off your device, shared, sold, or used for advertising or third-party analytics. Disabling AccessibilityService stops future foreground-app detection.

4. Trusted-person messages and contacts

Steady can prepare a message for someone you trust. The App opens a prefilled message for your review and never sends it automatically. Your saved contact and draft remain in your on-device vault. If you choose to send the message, Apple's system interface and your messaging provider handle delivery under their own terms and privacy practices.

5. Optional AI personalization

AI personalization is off until you choose to enable it. When enabled, Steady sends a limited behavior summary to an AI service to generate personalized guidance, such as a daily plan. The summary does not include your:

  • Name or contact details
  • Private notes or reflections
  • Trusted-person details or prepared messages
  • Reasons, letters, or written plans
  • Screen Time selections or tokens

You can leave this feature off or turn it off in Settings. When it is off, no behavior summary is sent for AI personalization.

6. Purchases and subscription information

Steady Plus purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. Apple handles your Apple Account and payment details; we do not receive your full payment card or Apple Account credentials.

We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscription access. RevenueCat may process an app-generated identifier, device and operating-system information, timestamps, Apple receipt or transaction information, and your entitlement status. We do not send your notes, plans, contacts, reflections, Screen Time selections, or AI summary to RevenueCat.

These services handle information under their own policies: Apple Privacy Policy and RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

7. No advertising, analytics, or sale of data

The App contains no advertising SDKs and no third-party analytics. We do not sell your personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8. Retention, deletion, and your choices

  • On-device data: Stays on your device until you delete it in Steady or remove the App. Full in-app data deletion remains free.
  • AI personalization: You can keep it off or disable it at any time in Settings.
  • Screen Time: You can change selections or revoke authorization in your device settings.
  • Subscription: You can manage or cancel Steady Plus in your Apple Account subscription settings.
  • Processor records: Apple, RevenueCat, and an AI provider may retain information they process as required by their policies and applicable law.

Because we do not have Steady accounts and do not receive your on-device content, we generally cannot access, recover, or delete that content for you.

9. Security

Steady protects its local vault with encryption and relies on iOS security controls. Please protect your device with a passcode and keep iOS up to date. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

10. Adults only

Steady is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App. If you believe a child has sent information to us through an optional online feature or a support request, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

11. International processing and legal disclosures

Apple, RevenueCat, or the provider used for optional AI personalization may process information in countries other than your own. Their policies describe their locations and safeguards. We may disclose information we actually hold when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, or respond to valid legal process.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Steady's features, service providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy here, update the date above, and provide additional notice in the App when a change is material.
